Jumping Back into the Post-Pandemic World With Confidence

Jumping Back into the Post-Pandemic World With Confidence

What’s up REVLY fam?  As I was brainstorming what to write about this week, I was thinking about some of the most important things we promote here at REVLY - sweat everyday, live confidently, and strive to be your best and happiest self.  As much as I’d love to say that I’m 100% confident in who I am, I often find myself battling self-doubt and insecurities that seem to affect every aspect of my life, from relationships and work to health and fitness.  And I know I’m not the only one!  It’s not fun to be the girl in the back who can’t keep up or the new student who needs constant direction from an instructor.  Personally, I have a competitive side that strives to be the best at everything, and my ego takes a punch in the gut when I don’t finish an exercise first or fail to hold a pose.

With the pandemic coming to an end, gyms and studios are finally opening their doors to the public.  After a year of uncertainty in lockdown, jumping back into classes and activities can be super intimidating.  I was a little hesitant to go to my first yoga class in months - I’m not flexible to begin with, so a six-month break certainly hasn’t helped.  However, I’ve realized that the best thing for my mental and physical health was to push myself back into the flow (pun intended).  Nothing feels better than the endorphins that a good workout can bring, even if that means lowering your goal or taking things slow!  Remember that fitness is a journey you take solely for your own health and happiness, and you owe it to yourself to take part in that journey!

So, yes, you may struggle a bit when jumping back into the swing of things.  But here’s the best part: No one actually cares. That spotlight that you’ve mentally placed above yourself does not exist! Whether it’s a recreational sports team or a kickboxing class, your peers aren’t judging you like you judge yourself. If anything, they’re happy you’re here to join them. When it comes to sports and classes, the more the merrier! And instructors are here to do just that: instruct. They work in this field because they love sharing their passion with others. You’re not annoying the yoga instructor by asking for extra help. Your kickboxing teacher will appreciate that you want to learn how to throw a perfect hook. If it helps, get a buddy to join you for that first class back.

To wrap it up, I want to let you all know that YOU’VE GOT THIS!  Keep reminding yourself that you’re capable of amazing things - our biggest roadblocks are usually the ones we build ourselves. In the meantime, the REVLY team’s got your back, and we have plenty of swim and activewear to help you stay motivated and confident!
