Happy International Women's Day!!

Happy International Women's Day!!

March 8th, from here on out, better become your favorite day of the year. It beats every holiday, your birthday, and any anniversary you could even think about celebrating. What is so special about March 8th, you ask? It is a day that focuses on empowering and uplifting yourself and the incredible women that walk on this earth every day. It is International Freakin’ Women’s Day.

This year, International Women’s Day could not be more meaningful. We are experiencing a time when women are joining together in unison, their stories are being heard and women are refusing to live in silence anymore. Movements like #MeToo, #TimesUp and others have succeeded in beginning unbelievably important conversations and implementing necessary changes on institutional and social levels. When celebrating today it is important to reflect and celebrate all self-identifying women in our lives, especially those whose experiences our society tends to erase. Diverse groups of women are banding together despite wealth, race, sexual identity, religion, ability and opportunity in order to push for true equality and equity in this world.

REVLY is unbelievably excited to celebrate International Women’s Day. Our brand aims to inspire women to be confident in their own skin and love themselves inside and out. We want to change the conversations we are having about our own bodies and the bodies around us. A large part of this conversation changer is omitting the negative comments we make about other women, and believing only in positive reinforcements when discussing ourselves, our friends, and random girls we scroll through on our social media pages. Why look at a model or a girl with a different body type than yours and tear her apart? Why tear yourself apart? Let’s change the conversation from “I will never be her because I am ugly, fat, etc.” to, “I will never be her and that is okay because I am me.” All bodies are good and deserving of love and we want this to be the center of our mission: love yourself so much that you inspire those around you to do the same.

I would be lying if I said that I have never made a negative comment about myself or someone else’s body. But here is the thing, you get to a point in life when you have to weigh the amount of energy you are placing on certain things and decide how productive these statements are. “What am I gaining here?” I began thinking to myself, “Does joining in this type of dialogue enhance my own life in any way?” The answer is no. I am a firm believer that the energy you put out into the world is what comes back to you, so why wouldn’t you want that energy to come back as positive as can be? Support each other and motivate each other.

At REVLY, we want to encourage everyone to become their own biggest fans. Surround yourself with women that motivate you, uplift you, and inspire you to be the best version of you. Not a day goes by where I don’t receive a message from one of my amazing female friends reinforcing my worth and ability, and that is exactly how life should be. Tell the people that you love how amazing they are and never run out of compliments. No more judgements, no more body shaming in any form, and stop participating in the comparison game. Bottom line, women need to support women. So, go out today and every day and celebrate the incredible women that you are lucky enough to know.

You are so uniquely yourself, and that is the greatest gift you could ever offer the world. From the bottom of our hearts, Happy International Women’s Day.

With all of our love, support, encouragement and fire,

The REVLY Team
